• 1. Connect your iPhone to your Mac with the white sync cable. If there is iPhonto or Image Capture on your Mac, you need to quit it now.
• 2. Launch iMovie in one way: double click its icon from the Application folder; or click on iMovie icon in the Dock.
• 3. Now iMovie Import window should be opened automatically. If it doesn't, you can click on the little camcorder button at the left end of the iMovie toolbar to open Import window.
  
  
• 4. On the Import window, there are 2 options for you to transfer videos from iPhone to iMovie: Automatic and Manual. If you want to import all videos, you can slide the bar to Automatic and click on Import All button; if you only need to import some of the video clips, select Manual settings and choose Import Checked.
  
  
• 5. A pop-up dialog will ask you where to save these videos and show you how much free space available on your Mac as well as the length of the video to be imported. If there is an existing event in your iMovie, you can save them in it immediately; if not, create a new one. You can choose to analyze these videos for stabilization, people or both (If unnecessary, you can skip this step). You can also click on the Optimize video option box, choosing the final size of videos to save. Then you need to hit Import button.
  
  
• 6. Within a period, importing will be completed. Of course, the time span depends on how many videos you need to import. When importing process is finished, click on Done in the iMovie Import window. Then you can see the videos displayed in the lower left section.
